Conover in eastern Vilas County is home to more than 50 miles of expertly groomed trails that follow former railroad grades and wind through county and national forest lands throughout northern Wisconsin. Conover is a great place to launch snowmobiling adventures north to Land O’ Lakes and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, east into the Nicolet National Forest, south to Eagle River and beyond, and west to Sayner-Star Lake. Vilas County trails that pass through Conover include Route 8 and Route 13. When conditions are safe, some of Conover’s trails cross North and South Twin Lakes, Buckabaton Lake, and Twin Lake.
