Head to southwestern Vilas County to ride nearly 30 miles of expertly groomed trails maintained by the Northern Hornshoe Trails Snowmobile Club. The Northern Hornshoe Trails are groomed daily and take riders across lakes like Fence Lake and Squirrel Lake (conditions depending) and by interesting pit stops like Lake of the Torches casino and many local restaurants and bars. (Fun fact: The club takes its unique name from a story told by a local resort owner during the founding of the club in the late 1970s: a hornshoe rabbit–with a five-point rack!–had been pilfering produce from the resort owner’s garden.)
