Here’s a map (PDF) of Oneida County’s snowmobile trail system. Local maps are available from the snowmobile clubs listed below.
Rhinelander Area
Hodag Country is a great hub for snowmobiling in Oneida County, with trails that connect to several surrounding communities. The Hodag Sno-Trails club maintains 140 miles of trails around Rhinelander that offer great riding. Trail 15 is a nice ride—head north, and it will take you through Sugar Camp.
Minocqua Area and Tomahawk
The Cross Country Cruisers maintain the Bearskin State Trail, a trail on a former railway bed that served the Northwoods in its early days. Today the Bearskin Trail is an important scenic corridor for snowmobilers traveling between Minocqua and Tomahawk. (Learn more about snowmobiling on the Bearskin State Trail here.)
Three Lakes
Three Lakes-Brule River Trails and the Northern Lights Snowmobile Club maintain nearly 400 miles of trails in and around Three Lakes. There are nice day trip rides that will take you to surrounding communities to the southwest, including Rhinelander. Trails 13 and 13A also connect to snowmobiling attractions to the north in nearby Eagle River.
